The future emerges from the conversations we share. For thousands
of years, our people have gathered. . . around campfires, in the
majlis, and in cafes. . . to listen, talk, reflect, and envision
future possibilities. As leaders in the business and academic
communities, we play an especially important role in shaping the
future. As we explore new ways to meet the economic and social
challenges that confront us all, our conversations can be catalysts
for positive change.
On , the Gulf
Chapter of the Society for Organizational Learning (Gulf SoL)
hosted a unique
learning experience on Hawar Island, Bahrain. Participants engaged
in open conversations and reflective dialogues facilitated by
Dr. Peter Senge,
the internationally renowned strategist and leadership consultant.
The forum also presented cutting-edge tools and methods for embedding
learning in the work of our organizations.
The theme of the event was How can we—the
Gulf community—prosper in the global economy while sustaining
our local traditions?
The forum provided a unique opportunity for a diverse group of
business leaders, educators, and thought leaders from the Gulf
to network, reflect, and learn together while defining a collective
vision of the future. Peter Senge

for Organizational Learning (SoL)
SoL is an international learning community whose purpose is
to promote the interdependent development of people and their
organizations. SoL was created to connect organizations, researchers,
and consultants to generate capacity for fundamental innovation
and change.
The Gulf SoL chapter supports this purpose through three main
activities:
 |
Promoting dialogue
among leaders in the public and private sectors of the Gulf
region around issues of deep importance to our broader community. |
 |
Building capacity in the disciplines
of organizational learning to help members expand their
capacity to learn from each other. |
 |
Providing tools to promote the
creation and sharing of knowledge among members. |
